Albuquerque Al-Anon Information Service
Serving All of New Mexico and El Paso
Al-Anon Family Groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of problem drinkers who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve their common problems. We believe alcoholism is a family illness and that changed attitudes can aid recovery. Al-Anon's primary purpose is to help family and friends of alcoholics, whether the alcoholic is still drinking or not.
Albuquerque Al-Anon Information Service (AIS) supports the Al-Anon groups it serves by carrying the Al-Anon message to the families and friends who are bothered by someone else's drinking. AIS is staffed by volunteers who explain Al-Anon and help people find meetings convenient to where they live or work, and this site is an extension of that service. We invite you to click across the tabs above to learn more.
The Albuquerque AIS office also maintains a well-stocked Literature Distribution Center (LDC) and has Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature (CAL) for sale in the office and from this site. For more information, click on the Literature Store tab above.

What is Al-Anon?
Al-Anon's purpose is to help families and friends of problem drinkers. The Al-Anon Program is a non-professional anonymous fellowship of equals based on the Twelve Steps adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous. We come together to share our experience, strength and hope to solve our common problems. We are a spiritual program based on no particular form of religion. Anyone whose life has been affected by another person's drinking is welcome. What are Al-Anon Family Groups (AFGs)?
The Al-Anon Family Group (AFG) is the foundation of the Al-Anon Program. A meeting where any two or more members come together for mutual help is an Al-Anon Family Group. We come together to share how we have used the program to find solutions that lead to serenity. |
What is Alateen?
Alateen is a fellowship of young Al-Anon members, usually teenagers, whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking. We come together to share, discuss, learn, encourage and help each other to recover from the effects of the disease of alcoholism. We learn detachment with love, that we did not cause anyone else's drinking or behavior and that we cannot control anyone but ourselves. We learn about and develop our own spiritual and intellectual resources to build satisfying and rewarding life experiences for ourselves. More Information:
